Good design habits are like gold to a seasoned scrapbooker.
Here’s one habit you should consider adding to your scrapbooking routine:
Include the Shift key when adding a type
layer.
You DON’T always need the Shift key when adding a new type layer. But when you DO need the Shift key, and don’t use it, it catches you off guard and throws you for a loop. It’s frustrating.
What does the Shift key do? If you include the Shift key in conjunction with the Type
tool and placing your cursor on your page, PS/PSE will make sure to create a NEW type layer instead of activating a previous one. If this has happened to you, you know how it honks you off!
This most recently happened to me when taking Jenifer’s new class (see below). There were several type layers on my page, and they all kept competing for my attention. Using the Shift key shut down all the shenanigans of the Type
tool!
