Hi ,

Have you ever steeped yourself a lovely mug of hot tea, then walked away and forgotten about it until it's stone cold?

Maybe it's just me, but I bet I'm not the only one that absent-minded. At least I can always make myself a fresh cup again later!

But what about your precious memories? You can steep another pot of Earl Grey, but you can't go back and re-do that special vacation to the Grand Canyon or experience your child's third year of life over again. And once the fine details of an event are gone, it can often be hard or impossible to get them back.

So how do you keep your cup of memory "tea" from going cold?

Here's one simple method to try: before going to bed at night, jot down a few notes about the day's happenings -- just enough to get across the flavor of the events. Or, if you're pinched for time, simply jot down one special thing that happened.

Some ideas for what to write about: the funny thing a family member said or did, an unexpected event that made (or rescued) your day, or the details of a particular moment and what it made you feel or think. When you go back later to read and remember, you'll be surprised by how alive your memories will be!

Love and scrapbooking success,

Linda Sattgast
