Hi ,

Washi (or paper) tape, a Japanese masterpiece, is working its way into the digital marketplace. It's hip, it's now, and it's in this month's Premier kit. Still not convinced?

I have to admit that up until a month or two ago I was not much of a "tape" girl. I mostly preferred to stick things to my scrapbook page with plain ole virtual glue. While glue is still my go-to adhesive, Washi tape has managed to make its way into my heart -- and onto my scrapbook pages. Now I seem to be stuck on it!

Before I show you some cool Washi ways, let me share some learned Washi wisdom.

1) Washi tape is intended to be semi-transparent. That's part of its beauty. Embrace it.

2) Not all 'real life' embellishments can go shadowless -- Washi tape can.

3) If you must add a shadow to your tape, proceed cautiously. Apply the smallest shadow you can muster. Adding a shadow any bigger than a smidgen is just a plain no-no.

Washi Tape Examples

Ok, now for the good part. What do you DO with it? Well, here are five ways I use Washi on my pages:

1) Traditionally Washi tape is used to 'adhere' photos to your scrapbook page. There really is no wrong place to put the tape, you just set it and forget it.

2) Banners are so fun, but Washi tape banners are even fun-er! You can stitch the tape down as I've done above, or you can wrap it around a string, as you would do in real life. How cute is that!

3) Washi tape doesn't have to just stick down photos. Try using it to stick down journaling blocks, wayward elements, or even the end of your banner string. Cut shapes out of your tape for added interest.

4) You can literally stick this stuff anywhere on your scrapbook page and it just looks good. Above I've placed some strips of Washi tape coming onto the top corner of my scrapbook page. I LOVE this look!

5) Create a Washi cluster! When using Washi tape in a cluster -- which I highly recommend -- you will want to make sure the tape is on one of the lowest layers of the cluster.

Feeling ready to give Washi a try? Perhaps you need some more in your stash!?! Well you are in luck. Our girl Nannette has a surprise for you! Check it out below.

Have a great week, friend. Oh, and by the way, thanks for sticking around! xoxo
