Hi ,
You've got your ticket, don't you? I hope so, because we're getting ready to take a trip to Disney where I'll show you 5 ways to creatively use tickets on your scrapbook page. All aboard!
Ticket Tip #1 Utilize 3rd Party Images
The thing about tickets is -- you use them to do things. What did you do last year, last month or last week? What ever it was, you can find an image online that's either free or that you can purchase. (Make sure to observe copyright law.)
How'd I do it? I placed my image over the ticket and changed its Blend Mode to Multipy (you might also try Darken). The white parts of the image disappeared, leaving a perfect overlay.
Tip #2 Highlight a Single Detail
State the obvious. Pick a word or two that sums up your ticketed adventure and display it. Since we are
at Disney today, I'm going to elect to see Minnie Mouse... she's my favorite after all.
How'd I do it? I changed the Blend Mode of the white font (Walter) to Overlay. Now it looks like the words were meant to be on the ticket!
Tip #3 Peek and Run
It's not a Junior High gag. It's an awesome design secret. Anytime an element has an interesting edge, consider using only the edge as a design element.
How'd I do it? Peek the perforated edge of the ticket out from behind a paper, then line up a bunch of duplicates. Easy peasy.
Tip #4 Share the Details
Sometimes there's just not much to say on a layout. Sometimes you need to add in a few details, but you've already said enough. In cases like these, writing a quick sentence on a ticket and strategically placing it on your scrapbook page is just the... well, ticket.
How'd I do it? Using a text box, I placed colored type above my ticket. Changing the Blend Mode of the type layer to Linear Burn let some of the texture show through the type.
Tip #5 Frame Your Photos
Tickets can cleverly double as photo frames, and because of their small size, you could use them to fit a lot of photos on one layout.
How'd I do it? I created a photo clipping mask above the ticket.
Thanks for taking a quick trip to Disney with me! I always enjoy spending time with you. Make sure to grab the FREE goodie below, and check out Nannette's Digi Scrap Tutorial.
