Hi ,

I love, love, love it when a scrapbooking kit includes a lot of word art. What is it about word art that draws us in? Many times it's the simple concept of opposite attraction. The word art creates a break in our matchy-matchy way of scrapbooking.

Fantastic word art is super simple to create using the concept of opposite attraction. Here are three simple recipes to get you started:

Sample Word Art

Word Art Recipe #1: Thick & Thin
Thick and chunky fonts can be a real eye catcher in their own right. But, if you couple them with a thin little friend, you've got a recipe for success on any page. I designed this word art with a font called Coda and a piece of word art from the Me Personally kit by Amanda Taylor.

Word Art Recipe #2: Plain & Fancy
It's pretty simple. Using a sans serif font with a script font creates a work of art that will draw people in. It's nearly guaranteed to succeed. I designed this word art with two fonts called Scriptina and Hero Light. This word art is part of a set that comes with our Learn Digital Scrapbooking classes.

Word Art Recipe #3: Tight & Loose
This recipe uses the same font but with different kerning values and sizes. Kerning is currently only available in Photoshop, but there are ways to mimic the look in Elements. Simply put each letter on it's own layer and then distribute the letters evenly. I quickly created this word art with a font called Uniwerek Light.

I literally could go on forever with word art recipes, but I'm sure you've gotten the concept. Just remember that opposites attract both in real life and on your scrapbook page.

If you are looking for more great ways to dress up the type and titles on your scrapbook page, check out our free 20 Terrific Type Tutorials class. If you've already taken the class, perhaps now is a good time for a refresher.

Have a great week, friend.
