Hi ,

Here it is the end of January and I'm already starting to feel like my scrapbook journaling is getting monotonous. If you are feeling it too, here is a great tip to try on your next scrapbook page. It might be just what you need to break out of the winter blahs.

I refer to it as conversational journaling. It's typically written in third person, includes quotation marks, and has the potential to be the funniest thing you've ever journaled.

But what if you don't remember exactly what was said? Ok, lean in here real close, because I'm going to whisper. My advice: Cheat! As long as you get the main idea of the he-said-she-said conversation, no one will be the wiser when a word or two is left out or added.

What you don't want to cheat on, however, is your quotation punctuation. Here are 3 very basic quotation tips that should keep you on the straight and narrow path to righteousness.
Quotations Tip #1
The quote itself should always start with a capital letter. Think of the quotation as just a regular sentence all by itself -- it's just being hugged by quotation marks.

Quotations Tip #2
Never put more than one space between any of the characters in a paragraph. This tip doesn't just apply to quotations; it applies to anything you electronically pen now a days. By the way, I feel your pain. If you lived through the typewriter days, this is a hard habit to adopt.

Quotations Tip #3
The end punctuation in a quotation always goes inside the quotation marks. This applies to periods, exclamation points, question marks, and even commas.

I'd love to see your conversational journaling pages. If you have one you'd like to share with me, load it into the gallery and send me a link!

Have a great week, friend.
