Word Art--Think Outside the Box

Hi ,

Jen White here with a mid-month reminder that you can increase your creativity by thinking outside the box. Let me demonstrate with some simple word art.

Word Art Samples

Word art is a treasure, not only because it's super cool, but because it's so versatile. Next time you adorn your scrapbook page with word art, give these simple ideas a try:

  • Lower the opacity. In the example above, I lowered the layer opacity of the middle word to 50%. This will give the word a soft overlayed look. It's one of my favorite and most used techniques.

  • Create a sticker. For the third word, I added a 10 pixel outside stroke, simplified the layer style, then added a custom shadow.

  • Word art treated like this will create a dynamic presence on your page. It's perfect for clustering and adding depth.

So, I encourage you to set your creativity free this week and think outside the box with what you have to work with. See you in the galleries!

    Scrappin' with Scraps Tutorial

    Ready to Craft?

Forget the scissors! Barb will show you how to create a grid template using "leftover digi paper scraps," which can be magically resized or trimmed in an instant without distorting paper patterns. Then add some wobbly "sketched outlines" for a bit of handmade charm.

To create this homespun look, you'll be using shapes, a specialty Photoshop brush, the Transform tool, Liquify, and the Eyedropper tool.
