Hi ,
It’s a question that comes up on a regular basis, and it’s frustrating!
You probably think it’s something you DID to cause it to happen. You’re probably right.
Brush Modes
When working with most brushes in Photoshop Elements, you have two brush mode options—standard and precise.
Standard Mode (pictured at the top) is the preferred method for brushing. The circle (or whatever shape the brush is) shows the boundary of the brush, regardless of how hard or soft it is.
Precise Mode (pictured at the bottom) always resembles a crosshairs with a dot in the center. It’s useful when using very small brushes or when you want to be…. well, uber precise.
The Caps Key
Ever end up in Precise Mode only to be frustrated and not remember how to get back OUT of it?
9 times out of 10, the answer lies in your Caps Lock key. When the Caps Lock is off, you will be brushing in Standard Mode. When the Caps Lock is on, you are in Precise Mode.
If you’ve enjoyed this little tidbit about brushing, you’ll LOVE all the awesome brushy-ness that Linda has worked up for this month’s mini class. Catch all the details below.
Have a great week!
