Don’t Make This Rookie Type Mistake

Hi ,

I know I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating. . . like, a gazillion times.

Script fonts are designed to be connected. If you aren’t connecting them, you’re going to look like a rookie. Sorry, but somebody had to say it.

The problem is that your program is not smart enough to know when a gap needs closed and when it doesn’t. This is something you have to manually adjust.
  • Adobe Photoshop. Adjust the gap between letters with the Tracking slider in the Character panel.
  • Photoshop Elements. Turn on Asian Text in Preferences and then adjust the Tsume percentage in the Tool Options of the Type tool.
The Bad News for PSE Users
Asian Text’s Tsume settings do not work with all fonts. You will have to experiment and see which of your fonts it works with and which it doesn’t.

Check out the details and link below featuring the latest tutorial on our blog.

Enjoy! I’ll see you in the galleries.
